Now or Never Festival 2025 – Melbourne’s Boldest Winter Event is Back

There must be one winter festival which you hurriedly put down in your calendar this August, and that must be the Now or Never Festival as it is the most adventurous, innovative festival in Melbourne regarding art, sound, technology and future thinking. The city will be turned into a scintillating laboratory of sounds, light, thoughts and immersive experience between Thursday 21 August and Sunday 31 August 2025.
What Is the Now or Never Festival?

Now or Never Festival is the main winter event of Melbourne where culture, art, music, and pop imagination are combined during ten nights and days. Consisting of more than 140 events, many of them free, and incorporating more than 285 artists worldwide, it is a city-wide celebration that is all about the sense of Melbourne a city of brilliant, experimental and inclusive wonder.

🎶 Live Music at Melbourne Town Hall
Get ready for a stacked line-up featuring:

MATRIA (Free Installation)
The Pink inflatable world within the Royal Exhibition Building designed by Penique Productions is a sensory experience of the whole body. Free-think kinetic art, light, soundscapes, dance and even breathwork.
EINDER Light, Sound and Long Table Dining
A 20 metre-long light-and-sound tunnel by Boris Jacket, and the slow-food-dining experience by Julia Busuttil Nishimura herself. Slow living and high art are combined. Yes, please.
DELIRI- AI Projection State library
State library Hamill Industries will turn the facade of the State Library into a glowing, responsive screen using AI and turning it into a visual spectacle accessible to all. It is an ideal evening shoot!
Burdi Burdi (Fire Fire)
Designed by Dr. Christian Thompson AO, it is a contemplative exhibition work on Evan Walker Bridge, which should not be missed because it reflects some profound cultural notions in society and asks how people reconnect and reflect.
Future of Space
Time your alarms, space fans: become acquainted with astronaut Katherine Bennell-Pegg and astronomer Dr. Tania Hill as they discuss space, technology and our role in the universe. This is brought to you by the Australian Space Agency.
